Transfield Services wins top environmental sustainability award

Transfield Services has been awarded top honours at the 2012 Australian Business Awards in the

category of Environmental Sustainability.

The award recognises a range of initiatives that Transfield Services’ facilities management teams have developed and implemented together with its clients to guide contract activity in the area of environmental management and improve sustainability standards.

Many of these initiatives have contributed to our clients achieving ambitious energy efficiency targets, reduced their impact on the environment, generated significant cost savings and benefited local communities.

Congratulating Transfield Services, Ms Tara Johnston, Program Director of the Australian Business Awards said: “These types of accolades don’t come easily – they are underpinned by vision and leadership, both of which require a clear dedication to research and development.”

“We are committed to sustainability best practice and will continue to implement programs and initiatives which benefit our clients, the environment and the communities where we work,” Transfield Services Managing Director and CEO, Peter Goode said.

Transfield Services has worked with clients to develop and implement initiatives such as lighting upgrades, introducing more efficient and environmentally-friendly cleaning technology, implementing water and waste management plans, developing green building programs, reducing our carbon footprint and introducing ethical and sustainable procurement practices.

Recently our Mornington Peninsula Shire contract received the Silver Award from the Asset Management Council for applying asset management principles to growing assets (trees, sports fields, parks and reserves), which traditionally have only been applied to plant and equipment.
