Safety milestone for Brisbane Airport Rail Link team

19 years without a lost time injury

Working safely is just what the team at Brisbane's Airtrain do. And on Sunday, the team achieved 19 years without a lost time injury. 19 years is also how long the Alliance contract for the Brisbane Airport Rail Link has been in place. This is equivalent to 2.4 million employee hours worked.

Andrew Freeman, Business, Risk and Safety Manager for the Brisbane Airport Rail Contract said, "I'm incredibly proud of the team achieving this safety milestone.

"Everyone is dedicated to safety improvement and innovation to ensure all aspects of site safety are valued and reinforced."

Andy England, General Manager Rail said, "This is a fantastic effort by the Broadspectrum team on the Brisbane Airport Rail Contract. Congratulations to each of you for your efforts."

The team is fully committed to a workplace where reporting hazards and identifying and controlling risks are supported and promoted. Ultimately, the focus is the prevention of injuries to staff and customers.

During the 19 years of this contract, more than 26 million passengers have safely travelled on the airport rail link.

The Brisbane Airport Rail Link team leads Broadspectrum's Rail business in all safety indicators, close call and hazard identification. Environment, health and wellbeing are also valued, with initiatives such as regular health checks and flu vaccines supported Broadspectrum and the client.

Our client, Chris Basche, the CEO of Brisbane's Airtrain said, "The whole team is professional in its approach to service delivery and infrastructure maintenance, and a safety culture permeates all levels of the site."
